Beeline and Blue Lives up to +Size Reputation Print Email
Since 1994, Beeline and Blue customers have relied on the company’s signature can-do attitude and nationally-recognized expertise to produce really big graphics in the shortest possible time.

This year, Beeline and Blue took their unofficial motto of "we make it big at Beeline and Blue" to the Metro Arts Expo.

"We have always wanted to do something for our Fine Art customers and the Des Moines art community," said Steven Strooh, vice-president of Beeline and Blue. “When Kim Poam-Logan, executive director of Metro Arts Alliance, approached us about providing the graphics for the Metro Arts Expo this year, it seemed the perfect opportunity."

The result was to cover the second-floor railings with 619 square feet of reinforced vinyl, 115 square feet of removable fabric posters and 250 square feet of hanging banners, one of which was 6 feet wide and 30 feet long!

"Instead of the typical, sad hanging banners, we wanted to do something that would make visitors to the Expo go, 'Wow!'", Strooh said.

The colors chosen by John Sayles for the design this year provided some challenges for the Beeline and Blue team. Special swatches were printed on each of the medias on the different devices and then the colors were hand-picked to ensure their appearance throughout would be consistent.

"Although we have a state-of-the-art color management process, and can match a wide range of Pantone colors automatically, now and then we come across colors that require 'special treatment,’" said E.M. Leonard, production manager for Beeline and Blue.

Incredibly, the entire printing job was completed in one day.

"We produced a total of over 1,000 square feet in a single day," said Strooh with obvious pride. “Our own Scott Sanders worked with volunteers from the Expo on the installation. The result was an overnight transformation of Capitol Square in downtown Des Moines.

Customer satisfaction is always the primary goal of any job and the Metro Arts Alliance was not disappointed.
"Beeline and Blue’s large format printing is incredible. As you can see by the beautiful graphics they have produced for Metro Arts Expo; they have truly taken their work in this arena to an art form." said Poam-Logan, executive director of Metro Arts Alliance.
